Five Tips for a Good Offsite Meeting

I'll be facilitating our Fall Offsite Meeting today and am really looking forward to it. We typically set up a shared DropBox folder for folks to deposit their quarterly reports. Then, in the second half of the meeting, we tackle tough issues that need to be resolved.

Here are five other tips that make for a successful offsite:

1. Good food is always appreciated.
2. Focus on actionable items. Talking is good but action is better.
3. Conflict is good.
4. Movement is good. Encourage folks to get up, pace, stretch.
5. Red card. Give folks the ability to say something that should not make it into the notes.
